Welcome to Lyric Theatre!

Lyric Theatre of San José is a non-profit community theater group which has been dedicated to preserving and presenting our vocal musical heritage for over 40 years.  Our annual season consists of shows by Gilbert & Sullivan, Broadway composers, and American & European operetta composers.  Our productions receive many fine reviews for the quality and skills of the performers, orchestra, conductors, and stage directors.  Our sets and costumes are designed by professionals with major stage experience.  In summary, we provide excellent performances, all for a very reasonable ticket price.

SJCC Theater
As of  October 2017, we are performing our main stage shows at the Theater at San José City College.  Due to the recent fire there, our current production will

We provide projected supertitles of all song lyrics so that you don’t miss any.

Pre-performance talks:
You are all invited to our free pre-performance talks, one hour before curtain of each performance.  Our directors explain the history of the show, their interpretation of it, and perhaps some of the issues they had to address to bring the show to the stage.  If time allows, they take questions from the audience.

Lyric Theatre is a member of Theatre Bay Area and the Silicon Valley Arts Coalition.

(Due to the recent fire at San José City College Theater, our production of The Gondoliers will be presented at the Santa Clara High School Performing Arts Center.  The two evening performances will begin at 7:30 PM.)

Venetian gondoliers Marco and Giuseppe marry contadine Gianetta and Tessa, then learn that one of them is the King of Barataria.  The only problem is, no one in Venice knows which of them is the King.
