ABOUT THE SHOW
As part of our mission, Lyric Theatre has presented a Discovery Series of semi-staged concerts, featuring light operas that were popular during their initial runs, but have fallen into obscurity since.
Garden of Treasures is inspired by the natural imagery and figurative language featured in song lyrics from the late-19th and early 20th Century, and this concert will feature works by a selection of influential BIPOC composers from the United States and around the world, such as Chiquinha Gonzaga, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, and Nicanor Abelardo.
We are also proud to partner with Stories for Solidarity, another local non-profit organization that has spent the pandemic beautifying downtown San Jose’s boarded up windows with colorful murals that celebrate our community’s diversity. Stories for Solidarity also provides urban gardening workshops and hosts community gardening events.
