Babes in Toyland
Victor Herbert’s Classic Broadway Hit
Come see this perennial favorite, weaving nursery rhyme characters into a musical fairy tale extravaganza in a concert production with excellent singers, full orchestra and video projections. Hear some of Herbert's most famous songs -- "Toyland", "March of the Toys", "Go to Sleep, Slumber Deep", and "I Can't Do the Sum” – as well as music from the original 1903 production that has not been heard since.
Babes in Toyland was made into movies in 1934 with Laurel & Hardy, 1961 with Ray Bolger and Annette Funicello and in 1986 with Drew Barrymore and Keanu Reeves, all with stories vastly different from the original production. Lyric Theatre is presenting the original story and music.
