Babes In Toyland

About the show:

The production will be a narrated version of the original 1903 Broadway production performed in concert style. The production will be with full orchestra utilizing Victor Herbert’s original orchestrations for the show, which have not been available until now. The production will be geared to highlight the score of the show.

 

Roles:

In addition to the roles listed below we are seeking an ensemble chorus of various Nursery Rhyme characters and Toyland inhabitants.

 

Barnaby — Villain of the piece. “In love” with Mary. Baritone
Roderigo — Sentimental ruffian. Baritone
Gonzorgo — His hard-hearted partner. Baritone
Alan — One of the Babes of the title. Nephew of Barnaby. Baritone
Jane — One of the Babes of the title. Niece of Barnaby. Soprano
Tom, Tom — Eldest son of Widow Piper. In love with Jane. Tenor
Mary, Quite Contrary— Eldest daughter of Widow Piper. Target of Barnaby for Marriage. Mezzo
Bopeep — A careless shepherdess. Soprano
Marmaduke — Chief of Toyland Police. Baritone
Gertrude — A peasant. Dramatic soprano
